Jon D. Franklin (born 1942 Enid, Oklahoma) is an American journalist,[1] and Philip Merrill Chair at the University of Maryland.[2] From 1959 and 1967, he served in the United States Navy where he wrote for All Hands Magazine. Then, he wrote for the Prince George’s Post. He graduated from the University of Maryland, in 1970. He wrote for the Baltimore Evening Sun as science writer.
