Editing help is available. Green Wix Unthank (born 1923) is a United States federal judge. Born in Tway, Kentucky, Unthank was in the United States Army, Airborne Infantry from 1940 to 1945. He received a J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 1950. He was a judge on the Harlan County Court, Kentucky from 1951 to 1957. He was in private practice in Kentucky from 1957 to 1966. He was an assistant U.S. Attorney of the Eastern District of Kentucky from 1966 to 1969. He was a Commonwealth's attorney of 26th Judicial District of Kentucky from 1970 to 1980. Unthank was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. Unthank was nominated by President Jimmy Carter on December 19, 1979, to a new seat created by 92 Stat. 1629. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on June 18, 1980, and received his commission the same day. He assumed senior status on June 14, 1988.
