In the 1970s, Jord developed its business in Australia, working on drum filters (1973), turnkey plant (1974), and air coolers (1976).[4] In 1980, Jord received an order to design and build the world’s largest filter station. Asian expansion During the 80s, Jord broadened its technological know-how and capabilities and established exclusive and stable partnerships with customers and suppliers. They started to work outside Australia: New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and New Guinea between 1986 and 1988.[5] In 1988, an office was opened in Singapore to reinforce Jord’s position in South East Asia. Consolidation In the 90s Jord continued to expand in Asia, opening offices in China, Vietnam, and Korea, and winning its first contracts in the Middle East: Oman in 1993 and Saudi Arabia in 1995. In 1994, Jord’s offices in Australia and Singapore were ISO 9001 certified by Bureau Veritas.[6] ISO 9001 accreditation has been maintained since then. Global development A 50/50 joint venture with Korea’s manufacturer Korea Cottrell was established in 2003 for the manufacturing of air coolers and other vessels.[7] Offices in China and India were opened in 2004 and 2006 respectively. Other 50/50 joint ventures were created with DESCON Engineering (Pakistan)][8] and Olayan Descon (Saudi Arabia).[9] Jord Malaysia was created in 2006, manufacturing only air coolers.[10] At the same time, Jord developed its activities in South America (Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia), Europe (The Netherlands, UK, France, Germany) and the Middle East (UAE, Iran, Pakistan, Qatar). Two small offices were opened in Brussels and in Dubai in 2006. In 2009, a new office was established in the Philippines. A second office in India is planned.
