According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.5 square miles (1.3 km²), all of it land. Demographics As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,456 people, 573 households, and 414 families residing in the town. The population density was 2,898.1 people per square mile (1,124.3/km²). There were 608 housing units at an average density of 1,210.2/sq mi (469.5/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.49% White, 0.48% Native American, 0.07% Asian, 0.07% from other races, and 0.89% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.21% of the population. There were 573 households out of which 34.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.3% were married couples living together, 10.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.7% were non-families. 23.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.03. In the town the population was spread out with 28.0% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 28.4% from 25 to 44, 21.0% from 45 to 64, and 15.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 92.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.0 males. The median income for a household in the town was $36,250, and the median income for a family was $45,000. Males had a median income of $31,795 versus $21,750 for females.
