Emeric Hajdu (26 January 1910 in Budapest, Hungary - 21 October 1989 in Paris, France) better known by his stage name Jean Image was a director, script writer and producer of French animation films. He emigrated to France in 1932, in his youth. He then worked on sponsored films and he also made several shorts on his own. After the war, he became the first French author of a full-length animated film (Jeannot l'Intrépide). He was influenced by the classic style in Walt Disney's films. In 1948, he founds the Films Jean Image company. Later, in 1960, he dedicates himself to producing television cartoon series. Two of these series (Kiri le Clown and Joe) will become very popular. Jean Image is also the author of a book on animation entitled "Le Dessin animé : initiation à la technique" (1979).
