(November 2007) Yukichi Chuganji Chuganji at age 112 Born March 23, 1889(1889-03-23) Chikushino, Fukuoka, Japan Died September 28, 2003(2003-09-28) (aged &0000000000000114000000114 years, &0000000000000189000000189 days) Ogori, Fukuoka, Japan Yukichi Chuganji (中願寺 雄吉, Chūganji Yūkichi?) (March 23, 1889 – September 28, 2003) was a Japanese supercentenarian and the world's verified oldest man from the death of Antonio Todde in January 2002 until his own death at age 114 years 189 days, ranking him as the fifth-oldest male supercentenarian on record. Chuganji is one of only five men in history who have undisputably lived to age 114 and is the oldest Japanese man whose age is not in dispute to have ever lived. A retired silkworm breeder, he lived in the city of Ogori, Fukuoka Prefecture, with 74-year-old daughter Kyoko, near the center of the island of Kyūshū. After his death, then 113-year-old Spanish man Joan Riudavets became the world's oldest recognized man. With the questioning of fellow Japanese Kamato Hongo's age, he may in fact have been the oldest living person since the death of Mae Harrington on December 29, 2002 until his death, and the first male to hold that title since his compatriot Shigechiyo Izumi, whose 120 lifespan is being questioned.
